Aproximadamente, un artículo de La piedra de Sísifo tiene una media de mil palabras, lo que se suele corresponder con unos cinco mil caracteres. ¿Te imaginas convertir uno de esos artículos en el título de un libro? De entrada, cuanto menos tedioso y poco práctico para el diseño de la cubierta. Y, sin embargo, hay quien lo ha hecho. No, por supuesto, convertir en título de libro un artículo de esta página, pero sí alargar tanto como si lo fuera esa parte tan esencial de cualquier libro que es la que nos permite identificarlo.

El título en cuestión no es uno de esos kilométricos nombres que se utilizaban antiguamente para los libros ‒¡pero qué maravillosa esa costumbre de antaño de alargar los títulos hasta límites insospechados!‒, sino que es un libro relativamente reciente, publicado en 2007, y trata nada más y nada menos que sobre la historia de Daniel Radcliffe en el papel de Harry Potter. Con 1.022 palabras, que se traducen en 5.820 caracteres, hay que decir que el contenido del libro no hace justicia a las expectativas generadas por su sinuoso título, ya que cuenta tan solo con 123 páginas, además de una sección desplegable de ocho páginas con fotos estereoscópicas a color de las películas de Harry Potter e imágenes en 3D se pueden verse con unas gafas que se incluyen en el volumen.

En una entrevista, el autor del libro con el título más largo del mundo, S. Subramonian, ex director del Dr. R.V. Facultad de Artes y Ciencias de Karamadai en la India, explicó que fue su hija, a quien le encantaban los libros de Harry Potter, quien inspiró su libro: «Harry Potter es un libro que ha despertado el interés por la lectura en muchísima gente. El personaje de Harry Potter interpretado por Daniel Radcliffe ha tenido una gran influencia en la juventud. Es por eso que he escrito un libro sobre él. Sus virtudes de caridad, humildad y la necesidad de sobreponerse a los desafíos de la vida hace que los niños y los jóvenes lo consideren un modelo a seguir».

El título del libro ha quedado registrado en el Libro Guinness de los Récords, como el más largo del mundo, pero no es la primera vez que Subramonian ve su nombre asociado a un récord ‒hay quien dice que engancha‒. En noviembre de 2006 Subramonian hizo historia enseñando en la clase ‒virtual‒ más grande formada hasta la fecha. Con una conexión a Internet consiguió conectar a 1.934 estudiantes repartidos en decenas países, entre los que estaban Austria, Ecuador, Gana, Grecia, Lituania, México, Malasia, Nigeria, Polonia, Filipinas, Rusia, Taiwán, Nepal o Estados Unidos. El Libro Guinness de los Récords se lo reconoció en enero de 2007 y en aquel momento dijo en una entrevista que si recibía el apoyo y el reconocimiento necesarios por parte del gobierno sería capaz de hacer un récord mundial en el campo de la educación cada año. Fruto de esa idea es, precisamente, el libro con el título más largo del mundo.

El título, que comienza con «Daniel Radcliffe, la historia del niño no tan ordinario elegido entre miles de aspirantes» y que después de unas mil palabras termina con «a quien dejar muchos más laureles bendecidos con su siempre real corona de la fama», en Amazon figura simplemente aparece como: Daniel Radcliffe … (1,022 palabras). A continuación el título completo, en versión original y con errores incluidos ‒porque los tiene‒.
